The next step.

S. has been talking about going to her big girl school for weeks. The day finally arrived! She was so proud to wear her very own backpack.

Oh, but I love this picture. Love that S. is mid step. Nothing's going to stop her! I love the expression of excitment and pride on H's face. I love that they are holding hands. I love the colors, the road in front of her, just like life, throwing her a turn in a new direction. I love those blond curls falling around her big girl backpack.

This one hit me tonight too. My little pixie, off exploring, not looking over her shoulder- just going. She actually came running back when one of her new friends called out to her, asking her where she was going. But this moment sums up the whole idea of giving my little on the chance to go out inot the world and try things out on her own, away from me. Ugh, I'm sobbing as I write that. But it just really is a picture of how I feel. And it just fits that she is happily flitting about.

So, do you think my kids will survive intact with such an ol' Irish sentimental momma? Poor kids are gonna need therapy :)

Thanks for making it through all that, and thanks for looking.

Sara, these are so sweet. I love the colors and how you process your pics.

How did she like her first day? I'll bet she had a blast. Is she your youngest?
